Exceeding Industry Standards and CDC Guidelines to Minimize the Spread of COVID-19
In these challenging times, we understand product safety has become more important than ever. At Medico, our team is dedicated to be the industry leader, exceeding standards set by the CDC, OSHA and maintaining and even renewing our Hygienically Clean and HLAC certifications. Many healthcare laundries do not maintain all of these certifications, but at Medico we have spared no expense to ensure we meet the highest of standards we set for our customers and their patients’ safety. Safety First, Always
As a leading healthcare service provider, Medico‘s laundry process starts with an EPA-registered disinfectant, which allows commercial laundries to take linen from hygienically clean to “disinfected” by adding them to the wash process. Disinfected textiles show a 99.999% reduction in bacteria maximizing staff and patient safety. As your partner in infection prevention, Medico chooses to provide this enhancement. We process all your linen and apparel using Ecolab’s AdvaCare textile disinfectant.
AdvaCare™ Disinfectant is an EPA-registered laundry disinfectant oxidizer with kill claims against eleven microorganisms of concern on healthcare linen, including C. difficile; the number one U.S. healthcare-associated infectious microorganism. AdvaCare Disinfectant outperforms chlorine and peroxide for disinfecting, whiteness, extending linen life, sustainability, and overall effectiveness.
Hygienically Clean believes the microbial measurement of clean laundry is the only true assurance that textiles pose no risk of infection. Hygienically Clean adds outcome measures to structural and process measures long mandated, regulated, or suggested by public and private authorities. Medico consistently delivers high-quality hygienically clean linen and garments for the medical industry. All of our lab coats, scrubs, gowns, uniforms, and linens are produced from our Hygienically Clean Certified facilities.
The Hygienically Clean designation assures the safety and cleanliness of textiles rather than certifying only laundry processes. Hygienically Clean is scientifically based. It sets an established threshold that guides the reduction of pathogens on textiles to levels that pose no threat to human illness, according to the Certification Association for Professional Textile Service Administration (CAPTSA). The microbial levels established by CAPTSA and the European Union (EU) for laundered textiles are 20 colony forming units (CFU) per square decimeter for healthcare textiles. This serves as the basis for Hygienically Clean certification.

The key premise behind HLAC methodology for accreditation is to focus on the process. HLAC inspects a laundry’s processes to ensure that they meet a predetermined standard viewed as the best method of keeping the product clean and free from any danger to the patient.
HLAC examines a laundry’s process using a detailed checklist of standardized criteria supported by recognized state, federal, and international agencies as well as industry standards. HLAC accreditation is an all-inclusive, on-site inspection of the facility, its processes, procedures, and protocols. On-site inspectors observe the operations, inspect its policies, and question both managers and production staff on the job for compliance. Production staff and managers are interviewed and questioned as to what is done, how it is done, and their role in keeping the laundry clean and safe. The day-long inspection observes operations, equipment, building design, infrastructure systems, and delivery methods.
