Preparing Your Office for Infectious Diseases
If you’re running a healthcare facility it’s impossible to prevent all contact to bacteria – however there are preventative measures you can take to prevent the spread of infectious diseases including:
- Washing your hands before and after working with a patient, using the facilities, and coming into contact with countertops and other hard surfaces.
- Following proper protocol when disinfecting instruments and equipment used on patients.
- Having quarantined quarters for patients that have been diagnosed with an infectious disease so they are kept away from patients who aren’t.
- Make sure your staff’s vaccinations are up to date.
- Bathe regularly.
- Don’t share utensils or other types of food prep items.
- Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth when in contact with a diseased patient.
- Handle linens and towels with the upmost care – ensuring they don’t come in contact with skin when possible.
- Disinfect doorknobs, walls, doors and other places where multiple people are handling items.
